On September 17th, 1997, UAA Research Facility Blackmoore in Antarctica was destroyed in an accident during a test involving Red Space. The accident occurred at 19:47:34 EST. During the accident, Red Space stabilization anchors seem to have malfunctioned, causing a Type R4 psycho-causual Breach. This breach led to the 5 Kilometers outside of the facility to become consumed by Red Space before naturally stablizing.
About 2 hours following the incident, automated distress signals were picked up at UAA Research Facility Sigmund, approximately 20 Kilometers away. A crew was then sent to attempt to explore the site. During the travel to the site, multiple crew members reported feeling a distinct sense of dread. Upon arriving at the site, the crew attempted to search around the area for survivors which proved futile. The crew then left to gather materials to build a resarch camp to continue examination of the area.
In the following days, the crew was able to their resarch camp near the Blackmoore Incidence Zone. On September 19th, Field Researcher, Johnathan Kleiner was selected to enter the incidence zone using Experimental protective equipment the reasearch team was able to accquire. Kleiner's suit would have 6 hours of oxygen supply and a built in digital camera to capture footage of the exploration.
At 03:30:00, Kleiner entered the Incidence Zone. The exploration was set to last only 1 hour before the research team would bring Kleiner back. However, while attempting to bring Kleiner back, the team faced technical issues which led to Kleiner staying for an additional 30 minutes. Upon bringing Kleiner back, the team realized that Kleiner's suit was empty. When the crew attempted to examine the suit's condition, they found that the suit's oxygen tanks ran out which seemed impossible given the lenghth of the expedition. When the crew then checked the suit's camera, they found that it contained images from beyond the time the exploration had taken place. Some of the latest photographs on the camera were from up to September 26th, which should have been impossible given the capacity of the oxygen tanks. One of the few photographs which were seemingly uncorrupted depicted part of the Research Facility which seemed to be in a far worse state of repair that what it could have been during the expedition.
In the future, the team plans on further exploration to discover more information about the Blackmoore Incidence Zone so that more can be understood about it, including how it remains stable despite the lack of an anchor, its unique temporal effects, and how they might be able to close a Red Space on a scale this large.
